"I can't say enough good things about Keith and his crew. This isn't the first time he's rescued me and it probably won't be the last, his honest way of doing business is why my father, Bob, trusted his vehicles to him for so many years too.
Anyway, I live in Michigan. I needed to come into Fairfield just for one day for some quick legal business. As I'm traveling through Illinois on I-80 in fast bumper to bumper traffic, WHAMMO!! A semi's tire is flying right torward us and hits us and then we roll over it before we can even register what is going on. There was no way to swerve out of the way in the traffic we were in. The cars in front of us had hit it too and I'm sure the cars behind us must have also.
Needless to say, we were pretty shook up. Semi tires are really big and loud when you hit and run over them. The car was making some awful rattling noises. We were trying to diagnose the issues but my boyfriend and I are pretty mechanically challenged, especially while driving down the road at 80 mph.
We were pretty sure the exhaust system was hanging on by a thread and that something under the passenger side was rattling. To make matters even more interesting, we drive a Subaru Legacy sedan.
I had started looking for Subaru dealers near where we were. Closest was an hour away. When I called they were down 2 techs and couldn't get us in that day. They suggested a muffler shop. When I called the muffler place, they were booked for days. That's when we just decided to get to Fairfield. We were under time constraints and the clock was ticking.
So I called Keith. I explained our situation. Told him what happened and that we were only in town for the one day and needed to get back home the next day. I admit, I name dropped my dad's name hoping it would be of some use...I was feeling pretty desperate.
We made it to town by some crazy miracle and dropped the car off. That was when we saw that the front bumper had been smooshed by the tire too. There was another source of rattling!
We took off to the appointment we had, hoping Keith and crew could do something about the underneath issue so that we could still make it back home the next day. We weren't expecting complete fixes, just some patches to get us home.
The next morning we got a call that Keith had traded in a really big favor with a retired muffler man to fix our car. Our exhaust was in really bad shape and definitely not safe for us to go back home with. They were working as fast as they could but didn't know if it would be done that day or not.
We hung out around town waiting to hear and and around noon we got the call. The car was all set for us to pick up!
We rushed over thinking the bill was going to be crazy high but what can you do? Surprise!!! The bill was around $150. Woohoo! And they tied the front end up so it wouldn't rattle or fall off.
Well Keith and crew are once again my heros! And so is the mysterious muffler man, Rick! I can't thank all of you enough. We made it home around 10 ish. Plenty reasonable to get in and settled and to bed before work.
It's always nice to come back home and know exactly who and where to go to when you need help. Once again, thanks Keith and crew. When in Fairfield, I wouldn't take my car anywhere else. 💗"
